Some people tend to have oily skin and assume that moisturizer would contribute to an oily complexion HOWEVER, moisturizer should be used regardless! When using acne products, some ingredients can dry out the skin causing sebum to overproduce which gives a person a greasy look. By using moisturizer, it would help the skin to not overproduce!
When looking for a moisturizer for acne-prone skin, it’s recommended to look for labels such as “oil-free”, “non-comedogenic,” and “won’t clog pores.” These labels mean that a product is made specifically to prevent breakouts and to prevent the skin from getting clogged. Another thing to look at for moisturizers would be the ingredients. Moisturizers sometimes contain acne-fighting ingredients like salicylic acid, retinol, and AHA acids which can lead to irritation if a person is already using products with these ingredients in them! Ask a dermatologist what ingredients should be in a moisturizer and what would work for you!
